Dedicated to gardening, flower arranging and community beautification

Our goals are to:

Stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening.

  • Various meetings have professionals who give a wide range of educational topics on gardening.

  • Members share their knowledge of “how-to” and other gardening ideas.

  • Our own club library has a wide range of books that may be borrowed.

Encourage artistic use of flowers.

  • Through speakers and workshops, we learn a variety of arrangements using fresh and dried plant material to encourage artistic use of flowers.

Promote civic beautification.

  • The Garden Club has planted and maintained 5 gardens throughout the village. By working with the Buffalo Grove Park District, we have donated trees, shrubs and flowers.

  • The club instituted placing in honor of our military a “BLUE STAR MEMORIAL” along with a formal garden.

Conserve native trees, birds and plant life.

  • Donations are made toward state wildflower planting programs, a state scholarship fund, and Nature Conservancy. We also offer college scholarships to local students studying in horticulture, conservation and landscape related fields.

Host Plant Sale.

  • An annual plant sale to fund our many community projects.

Have Fun!

  • In addition to monthly meetings or workshops, we also have a summer garden luncheon, winter holiday party and spring dinner.

BUFFALO GROVE GARDEN CLUB HOSTING 17TH ANNUAL PLANT SALE

The Buffalo Grove Garden Club is hosting its 17th annual plant sale.  The public is invited to attend the popular Cash and Carry portion of the sale.  This year’s sale features a wide variety of annual bedding plants, perennials, baskets, planters, accent plants, savory herbs, and for the first time ever, two popular varieties of tomato plants.  All plants are offered at very competitive prices and again this year the Club will feature many Proven Winners ®.

The Club continues its 39 years of support for the community by working in collaboration with Bob Lube to raise money for the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s Special Olympic fund.  Rose bushes donated by local merchants will be available for sale and all proceeds from the rose sale will be donated to Special Olympics.

Sale hours are 10:00 am to noon on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove.  Those customers that have placed pre-orders may pick up their plants at the same time.

Master gardeners will be available to answer questions and assist in selecting plant material.

Proceeds from the plant sale fund the Club’s most important projects:  the annual scholarship program, the purchase, planting, and maintenance of several public gardens in Buffalo Grove , and speakers at monthly meetings, to which the public is invited.
