2013 Summer Musical

Big Deal Productions, the national award winning theatre program of the Buffalo Grove Park District is pleased to announce auditions for the 2013 Summer Musical, Little Shop of Horrors. One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this charming homage to 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name and audience favorite, thanks to the successful film version and the incredible score by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. The show follows the misadventures of Seymour Krelborn, a down and out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a taste for fresh blood. Jam packed with amazing songs such as, Skid Row, Suddenly Seymour, and Suppertime, this is one show that will not fail to entertain!
Auditions for Little Shop of Horrors will take place at the Alcott Center on Monday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 15 from 6 - 10 pm and are open to performers entering 8th grade in the fall of 2013, and all teens and adults. Auditions are booked by appointment only; no walk-in auditions will be accepted. Appointment times are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Call-backs will be held in the evening on Thursday, May 16. Rehearsals for this production will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (some Wednesdays), and Sunday afternoons at the Alcott Center. Performances will be held in the West Auditorium at Stevenson High School on July 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 7:30 pm, and July 21 and 28 at 2 pm.
All performers who are cast in the show will be responsible for securing appropriate footwear, tights and undergarments (if necessary) for the production. Auditions will consist of singing and dancing. Please prepare a song and bring either sheet music (in the key you will sing it) or an accompaniment CD or iPod. An accompanist will be provided. Please dress comfortably and wear appropriate footwear for a dance audition.

Volunteers
The Buffalo Grove Park District Performing Arts is looking for volunteers to help with our upcoming productions. We are looking for people willing to usher at performances, assist with set building/painting, help with costumes and a variety of other tasks related to putting on large scale productions.
